It wasn’t a wallet or phone that was mistakenly left in the backseat of a rideshare driver’s car. Rather, it was an “unwanted” guest, Minnesota police said.

The driver turned to their backseat to find a “slithery surprise” July 9, Minneapolis police said.

It was a boa constrictor snake , video shows.

Officers safely recovered the snake from the rideshare driver’s car and held it for a video shared to their Facebook page.

Despite multiple attempts to contact the snake’s owner, officers eventually turned the snake over to animal control, according to the Facebook post.

Minnesota law prevents people from having endangered species as pets, according to the Department of Natural Resources. However, there are no legal restrictions on boa constrictors because they are not on the endangered species list.

This type of snake can be a “quite tame and calm pet ,” according to Spruce Pets.
