Caitlin Clark, Fever upset Lynx in front of sold-out Target Center

On an afternoon that saw the Lynx raise their 2024 Commissioners Cup banner, they weren't able to take down rookie sensation Caitlin Clark and the Indiana Fever, losing 81-74 Sunday in Minneapolis.

Lynx forward Napheesa Collier remained out on Sunday due to a foot injury. It was Minnesota's fourth straight game without their star after she suffered the injury on July 4 against the Sun.

Forward Alanna Smith was able to emerge in her absence. She started the game on fire for Minnesota with 13 of the team's 19 points in the first quarter. She was 4 of 6 from the field, but the rest of the team combined to shoot 3 of 13 and trailed 20-19 after 10 minutes of play.

Fever rookie guard Caitlin Clark was held to only two points in the first quarter, which was the lowest mark of her young WNBA career.

But after a chippy third quarter, which featured a technical foul called on Clark, the rookie phenom lit it up in the fourth quarter by scoring 10 of her 16 points to lead the Fever from down 60-53 after three quarters to the 81-74 road win.

The Lynx fall to 16-8 on the season. Collier will have until Wednesday to get fully healthy for her return to the lineup.
