Caitlin Clark's Reaction to Making WNBA History Causes Fever Teammates to Break

The Indiana Fever had a slow start against the Minnesota Lynx on July 14. However, the Fever's three 2024 All-Stars, Caitlin Clark, Aliyah Boston and Kelsey Mitchell, showed up big in the fourth quarter.

Boston scored 17 points with a career-high 16 rebounds and 4 blocks. Mitchell led the team in scoring with 21 points, and forced a game-sealing block in the Fever's 81-74 victory.

While Clark's five-game streak with double-doubles came to an end against the Lynx, she finished with 17 points, 6 assists and 3 rebounds. The No. 1 pick, who produced a franchise-high 13 assists in each of the previous three games, has 194 assists on the season, which moved her past Sue Bird for the second-most assists by a rookie in WNBA history.

Clark needs 31 more assists to tie Ticha Penicheiro's rookie record of 225 assists. Speaking to reporters after the game, Clark was asked if the new record held "sentimental" value by accomplishing it in Minneapolis. The rookie's blunt, unbothered response made both Mitchell and Boston burst out laughing.

"Not really," Clark said. "Probably something I won't remember. I don't know. It's cool?"

While Mitchell immediately started to laugh, Boston interjected, "You're so funny girl."

Fans loved the entire interaction. One man responded , "Clark has bigger goals than this, big accomplishment for a rookie, but she isn’t satisfied. She has that Mamba Mentality." Another person wrote , "Literally doesn’t care about the record, makes her more endearing."

One woman posted , "Kelsey laughing because she already knows cc’s reaction god i LOVE THIS TEAM."
