Twins draft four prospects in first two rounds

*The Twins were busy at the opening of the 20-round MLB Draft on Sunday, drafting four infielders and a pitching prospect after day one. At pick 21 they selected SS Kaelen Culpepper out of Kansas State. Culpepper is an athletic infielder who hits with the best of them in college baseball, shown by leading the U.S. Collegiate National Team in batting average, on-base percentage and slugging last summer, according to ESPN. Next they selected SS Kyle DeBarge at 31, 3B Billy Amick out of Tennessee, and LHP Dasan Hill out of Grapevine, TX High School.

Jordan Addison latest Viking to be arrested

*The Minnesota Vikings will remain at the top of most NFL player arrests by team since 2000, now with 60 after the latest run-in with law enforcement. Vikings second-year receiver Jordan Addison was arrested on suspicion of DUI late Friday night, near the LAX Airport in Los Angeles. According to an arrest report obtained by the Los Angeles Daily News, California Highway Patrol officers were dispatched to a report of a disabled vehicle blocking lanes on a L.A. freeway. According to the report, officers responded to the area where a white Rolls-Royce was reported blocking a lane of the freeway “with the driver asleep behind the wheel.”

This is Addison’s second driving-incident involving police in his first calendar year with the Vikings, and just a week following the death of teammate Khryee Jackson, who was hit by a drunk-driver.

The receiver has since scrubbed his social media account of team content since the arrest, drawing some concern of an escalating situation.

Addison became the Vikings’ number two receiver behind Justin Jefferson after being drafted 23rd overall in the 2023 NFL Draft. He proceeded to catch 70 balls for 911 yards and 10 touchdowns last year as a rookie.

    Home Run Derby

*Teoscar Hernandez is the winner of the 2024 MLB Home Run Derby held at the Texas Rangers’ Globe Life Field Monday night after 49 blasts in three rounds was enough to beat out some of the game’s best long-ball hitters. Hernandez edged-out Royals young phenom Bobby Witt Jr., who had 50 homers in the event, but only 13 to Hernandez’ 14 in the final round.

Hernandez was considered a longshot winner of the home run derby, with Vegas betting lines placing him sixth out of eight participants at +1200 odds. He is the first Los Angeles Dodger and seventh Dominican-born player to win the home run derby.
