On Friday, Minnesota Vikings wide receiver Jordan Addison was arrested on suspicion of DUI. It was a tough look for the 22-year-old, especially after he was popped last summer for driving 140 MPH in a 55 MPH zone.

Not to mention, we are just a couple of weeks removed from Addison’s new teammate Khyree Jackson, along with two others in his vehicle, dying in a car accident where alcohol may have been involved.

But as of Tuesday, there were few details that had emerged surrounding Jordan Addison’s arrest. There were no bookings reported from any LA County jails, no mug shot. The only thing we had to go on was a non-public “arrest report” that was obtained by various media outlets. It was still very much a murky situation.

This evening, however, Minnesota Sports Fan was able to get its hands on the same California Highway Patrol “arrest report” that other media outlets have, along with some newly uncovered details. The CHP report that media outlets received looks more like a press release than it does a police report.

Mostly, it’s a one paragraph summary of the events that night. It also includes Jordan’s full name, his city of residence, DOB, description and location of arrest (etc). Here is the paragraph that news outlets were writing their stories off of, over the weekend.

“On July 12, 2024, at approximately 2306 hours, the Los Angeles Communications Center (LACC) advised that there was a disabled vehicle blocking lanes on I-105 westbound to Sepulveda Boulevard northbound. CHP West Los Angeles Officer responded to the area and observed a white Rolls-Royce blocking the #1 lane of I-105 westbound to Sepulveda Boulevard northbound, with the driver asleep behind the wheel. After a DUI investigation was completed, the driver was arrested on suspicion of driving under the influence at approximately 2336 hours.”

Minnesota Vikings Jordan Addison “cited and released” on suspicion of DUI

After confirming with the LA County jail, that Jordan Addison was never booked into their system on Friday night, Minnesota Sports Fan was able to get ahold of someone inside the California Highway Patrol. That’s where MSF learned the reason why Addison was never booked: “Cite and Release” .

In California, cite and release is the practice of police issuing you a citation for suspected unlawful conduct, but not bringing you to jail for a formal booking . Instead, you are released on the condition that you make a signed promise show up to court , later on. The process is used mainly for low-level offenses, such as misdemeanors or infractions .

Because Jordan Addison was a first time offender, and not considered a threat, he qualified for “cite and release”, and took advantage. After arresting him on suspicion of DUI, officers released Addison to family and/or friends. No booking, no mug shot. Just a court date and citation.

Minnesota Sports Fan has also filed a public records request, for more information. CHP, however, does not legally have to honor that request for 10 days.
