The Minnesota Vikings have taken care of some very important business with a key piece of their offense and they did so way ahead of schedule.

Per multiple reports, Minnesota has signed starting left tackle Christian Darrisaw to a four-year contract extension. A former first-round pick out of Virginia Tech in the 2021 NFL draft, Darrisaw actually had two years left under contract. He had the final year of his rookie deal and a fifth-year option that the Vikings picked up back in April.

Darrisaw's new deal will pay him $113M with $77M in guaranteed money according to NFL Network's Ian Rapoport.

Darrisaw had an elite 2022 NFL season, but injuries slowed him down a bit in 2023. The Vikings are banking on a future more like Darrisaw's sophomore campaign, where he can further establish himself as one of the top young left tackles in the NFL.

It's also not a terrible idea to have your offensive line squared away when you just invested a first-round draft pick in a quarterback you believe in, as the Vikings did with former Michigan Wolverines signal-caller J.J. McCarthy. He'll have his blindside protector settled for the entirety of his rookie deal.

Minnesota got another big extension done on offense this offseason, signing star WR Justin Jefferson to a record-setting deal . The future is looking really bright for the Vikings' offense.
