The Minnesota Vikings made a massive splash on the free agency market this Tuesday when they announced the extension of left tackle Christian Darrisaw . It wasn't just locking down Darrisaw through the 2029 season, they made him the highest-paid left tackle in the National Football League.

It wasn't just that they got a deal done, the Vikings and general manager Kwesi Adofo-Mensah got Darrisaw to agree to an extension with two years left on his rookie contract. That could save the Vikings a multitude of money in the long term.

Darrisaw took some time to speak to the media on Wednesday and expanded on the extension in multiple ways, but you can boil it down to one line.

"I can just play football now."

It wasn't the only thing that Darrisaw said during his press conference, but you could get the sense that he was relieved and excited to have this in the rearview mirror. He also said that this was a process that took time, but his agent Drew Rosenhaus flew into town a couple days ago to get the deal done.

The Vikings kept one of their cornerstones for the next six seasons. You can watch the press conference here .
