Details emerge on Vikings LT Christian Darrisaw's contract extension

The Minnesota Vikings signed left tackle Christian Darrisaw to a contract extension on Tuesday afternoon, making him the highest-paid offensive tackle in the history of the National Football League...or so we thought.

Details emerged on the contract extension on Over The Cap Thursday morning and they paint a slightly different picture. The contract is four years for $104 million with incentive potential to bring the total up to $113 million.

    • $18 million signing bonus
    • $22.25 million in option bonuses
    • $7 million in per-game roster bonuses
    • $1.25 million in workout bonuses
    • $24.67 million in guaranteed salary

Right now, the incentives are unknown, but it makes sense why the $113 million is different from the $104 million here. That was reported before the numbers came out, which makes sense as the agents will want the bigger numbers reported. The salary cap hits are as follows:

    2024 $6,421,572
    2025 $10,470,000
    2026 $23,091,929
    2027 $24,800,000
    2028 $31,050,000
    2029 $28,450,000

Darrisaw's cap hit rises slightly in 2024 while dropping just under $6 million for the 2025 season. My current projections for the 2025 salary cap have the Vikings around $90 million in cap space. That number is before the Vikings were to extend the likes of Camryn Bynum and Byron Murphy Jr.

The Vikings have an incredibly healthy salary cap situation for the 2025 offseason and it's going to be a pivotal one.
