Man fatally stabbed at Minneapolis party is identified

The man stabbed to death during a party in north Minneapolis on Sunday has been identified by the Hennepin County Medical Examiner's Office.

Troy Dean Friend, 31, from Minneapolis, was found suffering from multiple stab wounds by the Minneapolis police officers at a party on the 3400 block of Penn Avenue North at around 3:15 a.m.

He was taken to North Memorial Healthcare, where he later died from his injuries.

According to MPD, people called 911 after hearing screaming during the party, leading law enforcement to believe a fight happened inside the home before the stabbing.

The Hennepin County Medical Examiner's Office has labeled Friend's death as a homicide. No arrests have been announced yet.

Friend's death was one of three homicides in Minneapolis in the space of 12 hours Saturday evening through Sunday morning.
