An old face in a new place, Aaron Jones signed a deal with one of the Packers' divisional rivals, the Vikings. This system has been supporting fantasy-relevant running backs for years. Kirk Cousins is gone, and the quarterback will be either Sam Darnold or JJ McCarthy, so Kevin O’Connell will want to lean on a veteran presence like Aaron Jones. Jones had a five-year run of being a top-12 RB, and four of those seasons were inside the top ten.
Last season, he missed 6 games. In the ones he played, he finished as an RB 1 in 3 weeks. After returning for the second time, Jones averaged 5.46 yards per carry from Week 15 to the divisional round of the playoffs. His run basically said he can still play the position at a high level.
Something that Jones lacked last season was his consistency in the endzone with only 3 touchdowns on the season (a total he matched in the wildcard game in Dallas) 2 of those coming in Week 1. This number should regress toward the mean he averages about 9 total touchdowns a season, coming to an offense that could be less potent than GB but could utilize him more in the red zone and through the air.
If he is healthy, he should be a high-end RB2. His ADP in Dynasty Superflex is 108th, which, if you have a youthful contender, is an easy home run play to add him as a flex or RB3 to the team building. In one QB redraft, he is the 61st player on the board, which is a nice value if he can stay healthy.
Our consensus projections for Jones in the 2024 season are 230 carries for 1,135 yards and 8 touchdowns. In the receiving game, his consensus projection is 34 receptions for 241 yards and 2 touchdowns.
