The Minnesota Vikings are currently entering year three of the era headlined by head coach Kevin O'Connell and general manager Kwesi Adofo-Mensah. It's been an interesting start to their tenure as the Vikings have a 20-14 record with one playoff appearance that ended with a loss to the New York Giants.

The intriguing aspect on the next step of their tenure is its length. Both O'Connell and Adofo-Mensah signed shorter four-year contracts when most coaches and general managers sign for five or six years.

Vikings co-owner Mark Wilf was made available to the media on Tuesday and made some interesting comments on their future, stating that there wouldn't be any extension talks until after the 2024 season.

O'Connell was asked about what Wilf had said and wasn't phased by the question one bit.

"No. I took some questions from this group about what I've learned since day one on this job, and I can tell you the one thing is you do not have time, energy or anything like that to worry about things that are outside of your control. And I’ve got a full-time gig here where I got to focus on these players, these coaches and making sure we’re having ourselves the best training camp we’ve ever had here, which will hopefully lead into a successful season. But, I’m very much focused on the task at hand and doing my job every single day, looking for any way I can be better for this organization and this team."

O'Connell has a good way of looking at things because he can't control everything. Focusing on what you can control, meaning your players and coaches, is a good strategy to implore.

The Vikings will likely be very interested in extending both O'Connell and Adofo-Mensah after the season and it shouldn't be a concern moving forward.
