Minnesota Vikings wide receiver Jordan Addison has formally been charged with two misdemeanors dating from his July 12th arrest for driving under the influence. Addison was arrested after he was found sleeping at the wheel of his vehicle outside the Los Angeles International Airport.

Details from the Star Tribune’s Ben Goessling show that Addison was charged with two misdemeanors, including driving under the influence of alcohol and driving with a blood alcohol level above the Los Angeles of 0.08.

Goessling report also states that Addison's court date is October 7, when he must enter a plea of guilt or innocence. He is facing thousands of dollars in fines, up to six months in jail, and a chance to lose his driver's license for up to six months.

The Vikings play in London against the New York Jets on October 6, but details on Addison's plan when the time arises have not been released. It is possible that Addison will leave the team after the game to make his appearance or have a lawyer represent him in court.

However, once the charges are finalized, Addison will likely face a suspension from the team or the NFL. According to its personal conduct policy, the NFL has a minimum three-game suspension for players' first criminal offenses.

Addison has been a full participant in training camp, and he or the coaching staff have made no comments on the charges. The organization and the league are expected to let the system and court rulings play out before deciding Addison’s punishment for the charges.

This is not the first time Addison has encountered the law; he was cited for driving reckless driving and speeding when he was pulled over for going 140mph in July of 2023 due to a medical emergency for a family pet.

Nothing is imminent, as all parties involved will wait for the justice system to make its ruling, so this is something for the organization and the league to monitor until then.
