On Saturday night, the Las Vegas Raiders will put on their uniforms and take the field for the first time during the 2024 season against the Minnesota Vikings. Training camp has been going on for a while now, and the team seems ready to reap the rewards from their work this Summer.

The preseason is important for a lot of reasons. Not only does it give players some time to shake the rust off before the games start to matter, but it also helps solve some of the battles for starting spots across the roster.

For the Raiders' there's been no battle this offseason more infamous than at the quarterback position . Gardner Minshew and Aidan O'Connell have been battling throughout the Summer for the starting role, and this week's preseason game could go a long way towards deciding the winner.

The Raiders' head coach, Antonio Pierce, spoke a bit about that after training camp on Wednesday:

Pierce is right, the preseason game will be telling. From the way Pierce is talking in the clip above, it seems pretty clear that both O'Connell and Minshew will be getting some action on Saturday.

Pierce also mentions that he's looking for his quarterbacks to be smart during the game, and to take care of the ball. It seems that he'd be happy with a game-manager type of performance from either quarterback, and the less mistakes made, the better.

With the elite potential across the Raiders' defense, this is likely all they need from the position in 2024. If they can get consistently decent play with limited mistakes, Las Vegas could be in for a big year in 2024.
