Boone Man Dies After Collision With Deer On Watauga County Roadway
Boone – On Saturday, July 6, at approximately 11:00 p.m., the NC State Highway Patrol responded to and investigated a fatal collision in Watauga County on Briarwood Lane near Big Hill Road. A Suzuki four-wheeler was traveling west on Briarwood Lane and struck a deer in the roadway. This collision caused the driver to lose control and overturn.
Tribe unveils Lumbee Historical Marker
PEMBROKE — State officials joined the Lumbee Tribe at the unveiling of the Lumbee Historical Marker at the Lumbee Tribe Housing Complex. The marker is one of nine being dedicated in 2024 by the N.C. State Historical Marker Program that highlights American Indian culture and history in North Carolina. The guest speakers included State Secretary Pam Brewington Cashwell, North Carolina Department of Administration; State Secretary D. Reid Wilson, N. C. Department of Natural and Cultural Resources; and Department of Transportation Board member Grady Hunt.
Human remains found in Johnson County
A search operation recovered human remains on Saturday. According to Johnson County Sheriff’s Office Chief Deputy Shawn Brown, the remains were recovered in the Butler Community of Johnson County. “The remains have been sent to the William L. Statesville Man Charged In Connection To Stony Point Shooting
On Friday, July 5th, the Alexander County Sheriff’s Office made another arrest in connection with a June shooting incident in Stony Point. Chadrick Ty-Quan McGee, age 28 of Statesville is charged with felony accessory after the fact. He is being held in the Alexander County Detention Center without bond.
