Tim Walz Brings Down the House with Roast of JD Vance: ‘I Can’t Wait to Debate the Guy – That Is If He’s Willing to Get off the Couch’

Minnesota Governor Tim Walz delivered a rousing speech on Tuesday in Philadelphia, just hours after Vice President Kamala Harris chose him to be her running mate.

Walz introduced himself to the American public and went after former President Donald Trump and his running mate, Sen. JD Vance (R-OH). At one point he told the crowd, “Violent crime was up under Donald Trump – that’s not even counting the crimes he committed.”

When it was Vance’s turn, Walz questioned the senator’s personal story as told in his bestselling book, Hillbilly Elegy. After being raised in humble beginnings, Vance went to Yale and embarked on a career in venture capitalism.

“I gotta tell ya,” Walz said before referring to the wildly unpopular Project 2025 developed by the conservative Heritage Foundation for a second Trump term. The enterprise was so toxic, that Trump denounced it publicly, though many of its contributors served in his administration. “His running mate shares his dangerous and backward agenda for this country. JD Vance literally, literally wrote the foreword for the architect of the Project 2025 agenda.”

The audience booed and Walz proceeded to roast Vance.

“Like all regular people I grew up with in The Heartland, JD studied at Yale, had his career funded by Silicon Valley billionaires, and then wrote a bestseller trashing that community,” the governor continued. “Come on! That’s not what Middle America is. And I gotta tell ya, I can’t wait to debate the guy.”

The audience cheered wildly before Walz twisted the knife by alluding to a baseless rumor that Vance had sex with a sofa.

“That is if he’s willing to get off the couch and show up,” Walz added.

The crowd went nuts.

“You see what I did there,” Walz said, acknowledging the crowd was very much in on the joke.
