MINOT, ND ( KXNET ) — Minot International Airport officials say no commercial flights are departing from the airport due to a global software system shut down affecting the airlines.

The airfield and terminal remain open, however, several flights have been delayed.

Passengers are encouraged to contact airlines for the most up-to-date flight information.

Airport officials are pointing to a statement from the Federal Aviation Administration, which states, “The FAA is closely monitoring a technical issue impacting IT systems at U.S. airlines. Several airlines have requested FAA assistance with ground stops for their fleets until the issue is resolved. For more information, monitor www.fly.faa.gov for updates.”

Meanwhile, the Bismarck Airport website shows only one delayed departure for today: United flight 4710 to Denver. All other departures remain scheduled as “on time.”

Only one incoming flight delay is also reported — Delta flight 4066 from Minneapolis.

A major internet outage affecting Microsoft is disrupting flights, banks, media outlets and companies across the world, with problems continuing hours after a technology company said it was gradually fixing an issue affecting access to Microsoft 365 apps and services.

Airlines and airports in the United States, Europe, Australia, India and elsewhere were reporting problems, with some flights grounded. Retail outlets, banks, railway companies and hospitals in several parts of the world were also affected in what appeared to be an unprecedented internet disruption.
