MINOT, ND ( KXNET ) — Two Minot residents were hurt Sunday evening when their ATV rolled in the Eastside Estates area.

According to the North Dakota Highway Patrol, a 43-year-old man and a 47-year-old woman were riding the vehicle on 47th Street Southeast when a dog that had been running alongside the ATV suddenly ran in front of the couple.

The driver steered to avoid the dog but overcorrected, losing control of the ATV. The vehicle rolled and both riders were ejected onto the pavement.

The man sustained serious injuries and the woman suffered minor injuries.

Both were taken by ambulance to Trinity Hospital.

The Highway Patrol reports neither were wearing helmets at the time of the rollover.

The driver has been charged with DUI.
