MINOT, ND ( KXNET ) — If you’re looking for a horse of a different color, you can find all sorts at the state fair this week.

On Thursday, it was the little horses that had a chance to show what they could do.

The show happened in Arena Two as horsemen and women were competing for the ribbon in Halter classes, they’re judged similarly to a Quarter Horse.

Judges are scoring the horses based on their balance, muscling, and proper structure.

Event leaders say that even if can’t tell a Buckskin from a Palomino, most people leave the horse show entertained.

“Come out and watch the miniatures because they do drive these horses in different events and we have different cart classes and roadster classes they’re a lot of fun to watch,” said Dean Duxbury, the show steward.

Horses will be on the schedule for the last two days of the fair.

Friday is the Morgan, Paint, and Appaloosa show as well as the state fair stampede in Arena One at 5 p.m.
