Wednesday marks the half-way point for high school two-a-days as well as the first allowed padded practice for MHSAA teams.

Glen Lake took the field in shells, shoulder pads and helmets only, as they took the field today in preparation for this season.

The Lakers were 5-5 last year in head coach Jesse Smith’s first season, highlighted by a playoff appearance.

They also replace two non-conference losses from last year in this season’s schedule and are hungry for a deeper playoff push.

“Yeah, I think we cut ourselves short last year. last year, we just kind of let up on the little things, which led to, big losses. And we just kind of got fix that. I don’t know, I feel like we didn’t do nearly as good as we could have last year, and we want to capitalize on that this year for sure” (Boden Smith, Senior WR/FS).

“I think we want to build on going on the run in playoffs like last year was a good first year to come in. And, you know, most of these guys have never made the playoffs. Come in, we won five games made the playoffs. So I think that was a big achievement, especially as a first year head coach here. And so I think we want to take further steps” (Jesse Smith).

Jesse also credited Strength and Conditioning coach Grant Caskey for getting the team ready in the summer, the Lakers first game is August 30th on the road against Manton.
