Junction City Brigade will face off with Midwest A's in playoffs
The Junction City Brigade wrapped up their regular season with a record of 23-9. Junction City has won their last nine games, including 12 of their last 13. A new season begins tonight for Junction City, as they are the number one seed in the Mid Plains League playoffs and will face off against the Midwest A's. It is a best two-out-of-three series. Game one of the series is tonight in Junction City at Rathert Field. The first pitch for tonight's game will be at 7:00.
Kansas fugitive captured at hotel in Colorado due back in court
PUEBLO COUNTY — A wanted Kansas suspect captured at a motel in Colorado is scheduled to return to a Kansas courtroom on Monday. Ryan Antalek, 40, Wichita, is charged with criminal discharge of a firearm, aggravated assault, fleeing or attempting to elude an officer, stalking, two counts of criminal threat, and criminal damage to property, according to the Sedgwick County District Attorney's office.
While drought is receding in northeast Kansas, swaths of the state still parched
Earlier this month, Perry Lake rose to its highest levels since 2019, when water levels were more than double their averages, according to the United State Geological Survey. Wichita man sentenced to 13 years in jail for dismembering cats, other charges
WICHITA, Kan. (KAKE) - A 31-year-old Wichita man has been sentenced to 13 years in the county jail for dismembering cats and domestic-related charges. The Sedgwick County district attorney's office said Judge Eric Williams on Monday sentenced Logan Cavender to one year for each of the 13 counts and ran the sentenced consecutively. Cavender pleaded no contest in May to 10 felony counts of animal cruelty, two misdemeanor counts of stalking and a misdemeanor count of breach of privacy.
