Baldwyn Man Charged With First Degree Murder

A Baldwyn man has been charged with First Degree Murder following a shooting death earlier this month, according to Booneville Police.

On August 19th, 2024 at approximately 19:00 hours, the Booneville Police began investigating a shooting incident that occurred at the August Circle apartments and resulted in the death of Damarion Calvin, an 18 year old male from Tupelo, MS. One person of interest was identified as Jayce Bryson West, 21 of Baldwyn, MS.

During the subsequent investigation by our Criminal Investigation Division, Mr. West transitioned from a person of interest to a wanted suspect.

Earlier today, he was taken into custody by the U.S. Marshals Service, without incident, at a residence in a neighboring county and transferred to Booneville. He was then taken before Booneville Municipal Court Judge Greg Meyer who ordered Mr. West to be held in police custody without bond.

This investigation is still ongoing as of this release. Additional information will be released as it becomes available.
