Hattiesburg Police Chase Ends in Car Crashing into House

Hattiesburg police have arrested an individual Sunday morning following a chase and a series of traffic violations.

Investigators said an officer observed a black sedan driving without their headlights or taillights near the intersection of West Street and West 4th Street around 5:15 a.m. on Sunday morning.

Whem officer attempted to stop the car, he began traveling at a high rate of speed, leading the officer to pursue the vehicle until it crashed into a home in the 500 block of Mable Street.

The officer was then able to make contact with the suspect, Marcus Loftin, 26, of Hattiesburg. Loftin was transported to the hospital for non-life-threatening injuries.

He was booked into Forrest County Jail for felony Eluding Law Enforcement, Reckless Driving and was given several other citations.

According to the Hattiesburg Police Department, investigation is ongoing and more information will be released once available.
