Jackson Man Arrested Following High-Speed Chase in Madison County

According to WJTV 12 News, a Jackson man was taken into custody on Thursday after allegedly leading Mississippi Highway Patrol (MHP) troopers on a high-speed chase.

According to MHP officials, the incident began just before 11:00 a.m. when a trooper stopped a Dodge Challenger for speeding and not wearing a seatbelt at the 107-mile marker on Interstate 55. After issuing a citation, the trooper returned to his vehicle, only to witness the driver discard the citation out the window and flee the scene.

The trooper attempted to stop the vehicle for littering, but the driver continued to evade arrest. During the pursuit, the suspect sideswiped a Toyota Corolla; however, the driver of the Corolla was unharmed.

The chase concluded at the 102-mile marker on Interstate 55 South, where 23-year-old Alontavious Sims of Jackson was apprehended without further incident. Sims was transported to the Madison County Detention Center, with charges pending.

The Mississippi Highway Patrol is continuing its investigation into the incident.
