Nelly Reportedly Arrested In Missouri

Nelly has reportedly been arrested for allegedly possessing illicit drugs.

According to a report KRCG in Missouri published on Wednesday, August 7, the rapper, born Cornell Haynes II, was pulled over by police in the St. Louis area at 4:45 a.m. He was taken to the Maryland Heights Police Department and booked on several charges including possession of four ecstasy pills and not having car insurance. Police also said the 49-year-old artist has an outstanding traffic summons. He was released shortly after he was arrested. As of this report, Nelly has not addressed the situation.

This isn't the first time Nelly has been accused of drug possession. He was arrested on drug charges in 2015. According to People , the "Grillz" rapper's coach bus was pulled over for failing to display a U.S. Department of Transportation and International Fuel Tax Association sticker while traveling with five others in Tennessee. After they smelled marijuana on the bus, police searched the vehicle and found drug paraphernalia, small amounts of weed, traces of methamphetamine, and several handguns.

Nelly was charged with felony possession of drugs, simple possession of marijuana, and possession of drug paraphernalia. His attorney told the press that Nelly had no association with the contraband that was found.

“Nelly was one of several individuals that was on a tour bus that was stopped and searched while traveling through Tennessee,” Nelly's attorney Scott Rosenblum said. “In fact, there had been 15-20 people that had access to the bus prior to the stop. Allegedly, a small quantity of contraband (MDMA aka Molly or Ecstasy) was discovered during the routine search.”

The felony drug possession charge was eventually dropped after testing proved the substance that was discovered with not meth. Nelly pleaded guilty to misdemeanor possession of marijuana and misdemeanor possession of drug paraphernalia as part of a plea deal . He was sentenced to one year of probation. His convictions were eventually erased from his record after he completed a diversion program.
