The "Redneck Woman" still has it. Gretchen Wilson is proving to the world that she is not going anywhere with his most recent performance at Rock The Country. During the show, Wilson took the stage with Big & Rich in Mobile, Alabama, for a shared set. However, Gretchen Wilson stole the show when John Rich asked her to perform any song of her liking from AC/DC's catalog. The Australian rock band is known for their gritty vocal delivery and head-banging music, so Wilson put on her best Brian Johnson impression, just letting it rip after she picked "Back in Black" as her song of choice.
"Can you do some AC/DC for this crowd, one time? You want to show them what a bada** you are. Whatever key you want." John Rich tells Wilson on stage before she turns toward the band and sings that she wants them to queue up "Back in Black." Wilson leaves it all on the stage, letting out powerful and raspy vocals that grab listeners by the throat. It's killer. After she delivers the first few lines without the band backing her, they jump in, and the whole performance is amped up another notch, although it was electric from the start. Fans quickly filled up the comments of the original video, noting how the performance made them feel chills. "I always thought Gretchen Wilson should have been a rock singer." "I FRIGGIN' LOVE GRETCHEN WILSON." "She is the female Kid Rock."
"Her voice gives me chills." "AHHH SHE ATTTEEEE." Gretchen Wilson has always beat to her own drum and is always showing fans the ultimate bada** that she is. This performance exemplifies that. Fire it up. And in case you weren't aware that Wilson could throw down the gauntlet on rock and roll covers, take a walk down memory lane to 2007 when she delivered a bone-chilling performance of "Barracuda" with Alice In Chains. https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=BqQkECIn738
