MOBILE, Ala. ( WKRG ) — Over 1,000 gallons of wastewater overflowed following a blockage, according to officials with Mobile Area Water & Sewer System.

MAWSS reported that the overflow happened on June 28 at 5327 Halls Mill Rd.

According to MAWSS, approximately 1,757 gallons of waste overflowed due to a blockage on a force main pipe — a pipeline that moves wastewater under pressure, using a compressor or pump.

Officials said that crews were able to contain the wastewater, preventing it from reaching state waters.

Crews were able to effectively clear the blockage in the pipes and worked to prevent future waste overflows at the location, the release said.
