    2 Mobile women sentenced for drug money laundering

    MOBILE, Ala. ( WKRG ) — Two Mobile women were sentenced on Monday on their convictions of conspiracy to launder drug proceeds, according to the United States Department of Justice.

    According to a USDOJ news release, 29-year-old Jamaka King and 39-year-old Danielle Dailey were involved in Darrin Southall’s criminal organization . They handled his illegal drug proceeds to conceal illegal activities generating cash and promoting crimes.

    “United States District Court Judge Kristi K. Dubose sentenced King to 3 months in custody, to be followed by a three-year term of supervised release,” the release said. “Judge Dubose sentenced Dailey to three years of probation.”

    Dubose ordered both King and Dailey to pay $100 in special assessments.

    They are both subject to search upon reasonable suspicion that they violated the conditions of their supervision. Dailey and King are also subject to drug testing, treatment and mental health evaluations.

    Investigators identified King during phone calls she made to Southall while his phone was wiretapped, and they identified Dailey during the initial investigation.

    King and Dailey each pled guilty to conspiracy to launder drug money when they were arrested in 2021.

    According to the USDOJ release, federal authorities seized over $2 million in cash, 18 vehicles, and about $160,000 in jewelry when arresting those involved in Southall’s organization.

    The agencies involved in the investigation include the Mobile Police Department; the Mobile County Sheriff’s Office; the Department of Homeland Security Investigations; the Bureau of Alcohol, Tobacco, Firearms and Explosives; the Baldwin County Sheriff’s Office; the Alabama Law Enforcement Agency; the Saraland Police Department; the St. Tammany Parish, Louisiana, Sheriff’s Office; and the Drug Enforcement Administration.
