Mexican Independence Day
On September 16, 1810, a priest named Miguel Hidalgo gave a speech in the town of Dolores, Mexico. He urged Mexicans to revolt against Spanish colonial rule.
Mexican Independence Day is celebrated every year throughout Colorado. The celebrations usually include parades, music, dance, and food. There are many events going on this weekend throughout the state. But in Denver at the El Grito celebration, in Civic Center Park in Denver they reenact the famous “Cry of Dolores” speech by Miguel Hidalgo.

Hispanic (Latine) Heritage Month starts September 15th and runs through to October 15th. The community event will include Aztec dancing, music, food trucks and vendor/community resource booths.
The host of the event is the non-profit Heart and Sol of Loveland. The organization is committed to developing diversity awareness by supporting culture, community, and education. This is one of their great annual events for the community.

You might have noticed that the event is using the word Latine. Latinx and Latine are gender-neutral versions of Latino and Latina. In the Spanish language, -o and -a endings correspond to the masculine and feminine forms of the word. Latino is often used as the default gender-neutral form (both in Spanish and English) for an individual of Latin American origin or descent.
The words Latinx and Latine are used by those who do not want to associate with gender. It is used when referring to nonbinary people or groups in which more than one gender is represented. You see Latinx more with English speakers. Latine is sometimes preferred, especially when communicating in Spanish.
Heart and Sol of Loveland has a great list of upcoming events that celebrate the Latine community during Hispanic (Latine) Heritage Month.
