    7 DUI arrests, 249 speeding citations issued during July 4 holiday: CHP Mojave

    BAKERSFIELD, Calif. (KGET) — Drivers making their way through eastern Kern County a felt the presence of the California Highway Patrol’s maximum enforcement period over the Fourth of July.

    CHP in Mojave said officers made seven arrests for suspicion of DUI during the long holiday weekend. Officers also issued 249 speeding citations during that time, officials said.

    Officers also issued 64 other types of citations and gave 78 warnings to drivers.

    There were no fatal traffic collisions in the CHP Mojave area, officials said.

    CHP’s Maximum Enforcement Period began July 3 at 6 p.m. and continued through the end of the day Sunday. Officers conducted their patrols in the areas of Ridgecrest, Trona, Boron, Rosamond and unincorporated areas of Tehachapi.

    CHP in Mojave patrols a large part of eastern Kern County and a small part of San Bernardino and Tulare counties, Public Information Officer Aaron Mauer said.
