Two men stabbed after fight at a Colorado tavern
SALIDA, Colo. (KKTV) - Salida police and Chaffee Sheriff’s Office deputies responded to a fight at Benson’s Tavern where they found a victim stabbed multiple times. Around 1:55 a.m. on Sunday, the Salida Police Department and Chaffee Sheriff’s Office deputies found 28-year-old Christian Garcia of Kansas in Benson’s Tavern at 128 North F Street with multiple wounds. Officers said the victim was quickly treated by medical officials on the scene and taken to a hospital.

Small Colorado ski area announces big expansion
A small ski area in central Colorado is preparing for a big expansion. This week, Monarch Mountain near Salida announced it received approval from the U.S. Forest Service to expand the ski area. According to the announcement, the expansion will extend into No Name Basin, adding 377 skiable acres. That equates to about 50% more terrain than is currently available to skiers at the 800-acre ski area.

New scholarship launches this fall
A locally-driven scholarship may be of interest to local seniors starting September. The Michael E. McGoldrick Scholarship launches this fall, granting $100,000 to three students across Colorado and Washington state in four years at college.
