DCG Softball to Play in 4A Quarterfinals
Dallas Center – Grimes softball will be looking to begin an exciting week of softball today when they compete in the 4A state tournament in Fort Dodge. This 4A quarterfinal will find the two seed Mustangs against the seven seed Carlisle Wildcats. DCG is 32-8 on the season while Carlisle is 34-8.
360 Shootout May Bring Large Car Count At Knoxville Raceway
Tonight is a big night for 360 drivers at the Knoxville Raceway. 3M Night will also be the 360 Shootout with the winner pocketing $10,000 plus other contingency awards including $1000 to quick time for both groups, each B-Main will feature the Knox Vegas Wheel Bonus. When the cars push off for each B-Main, there will be a wheel on the big screen that spins, and wherever it stops, that finishing position will earn a $1000 bonus, plus an A-Main Wheel Bonus will be worth $1,000. Officials are expecting a large car count in the 360s, which is why the Pro Sprints are getting the weekend off. Bishop Heelan Provides Several Challenges for Dutch Monday
The first round opponent for Pella in the Class 3A state baseball quarterfinals should provide plenty of hurdles to clear on Monday. Head Coach Jesse Jablonski says the Crusaders (32-10 overall, Missouri River Conference Champions) have the most power in their bats of anyone in the tournament field, leading Class 3A in home runs, and have the 2nd most stolen bases of any school in 3A at 143. The Crusaders’ pitching staff ERA of 1.89, 299 strikeouts, and opponent batting average are also 2nd in 3A this year, and the best among qualifying state tournament teams.
Knoxville Softball Got Back On Track In Time For Regional
The season ended last Saturday at Carlisle, but the Knoxville Softball Squad knew it had given everything Carlisle wanted in the class 4A regional semifinal. The Panthers came into the regional round mostly stuck in neutral after losing six of their final eight games, and getting ten runed in two of those. Coach Chris Peden was wondering how his team would respond to a one-and-done scenario and he told KNIA/KRLS Sports the girls came to practice and made a commitment to correct things in time for the regional opener.
A Look at Chariton, Pleasantville’s State Tournament Opponent
The Pleasantville baseball team will face Chariton in the opening round of the Class 2A state baseball tournament in Fort Dodge on Tuesday. The Chargers last made the state tournament in 2013 and are 24-4 this season. Chariton is riding a 19 game win streak coming into their contest against Pleasantville with their last loss coming on June 3rd against Knoxville. As a team, the Chargers average eight runs a game on offense and have a team batting average of .330. On defense, Chariton gives up an average of 3.2 runs per game and carries an opponent batting average of .187.
