    Man wanted for murder in SC charged in Monroe for DWI, child abuse: Police

    MONROE, N.C. (QUEEN CITY NEWS) — A wanted murderer out of South Carolina was arrested for multiple charges after a traffic stop including DWI and child abuse, according to the Monroe Police Department.

    On Tuesday, July 2, officers conducted a traffic stop on a vehicle with an expired license plate at 801 W. Roosevelt Blvd.

    During the stop, the officer noticed the driver was impaired from alcohol and driving with a suspended license. There were also minor children in the car at the time, officials said.

    The driver was identified as 25-year-old Jamison Jashawn Chambers who was wanted for murder out of Chesterfield County, South Carolina. He had wanted fugitive warrants including failing to appear on charges of murder, possessing a weapon during a violent crime and armed robbery. The officer also found a concealed weapon while she was arresting the suspect.

    Chambers was arrested and booked into the Union County Detention Center without bond for a variety of charges including:

    • Carrying a concealed weapon
    • Driving while impaired
    • Child abuse
    • Possession of marijuana up to 0.5 ounces
    • Expired registration/tag
    • Expired inspection

    Authorities say Chambers was also served with the fugitive warrants.
