    Monroe police investigating Route 33 motorcycle crash

    MONROE – A 74-year-old township man was taken to the hospital Tuesday with head, leg and arm injuries after his motorcycle collided with an SUV at the intersection of Route 33 and Applegarth Road.

    The 58-year-old Virginia man who was driving a 2024 Ford Expedition suffered a minor hand injury and was taken to CentraState Hospital in Freehold by Monroe EMS, police said.

    Around 11 a.m. July 16, Monroe police dispatch received several 911 calls about a crash involving a motorcycle at the intersection where arriving police, firefighters and EMS found a 2023 Harley Davidson motorcycle and the Ford SUV had collided in the intersection. The 74-year-old man was injured on the ground in the intersection next to his motorcycle and was taken to the hospital by Monroe EMS personnel with Robert Wood Johnson University Hospital paramedics on board.

    The cause of the crash is unknown at this time and is under investigation by Monroe Officer Matthew Mangarella of the Traffic Safety Division.
