Police find 219 grams of methamphetamine inside bag of crash victim

Monroe Township, Pa. — Police discovered a woman allegedly carrying several bags of methamphetamine near her crashed car.

Terra Lynn Painter, of Orefield, got the items from her overturned vehicle on Route 220 in Monroe Township, Trooper Nathan Smith said. The 60-year-old Painter, who had driven off the road and struck an embankment, had bloodshot eyes and dilated pupils as she spoke with investigators, Smith added. She was allegedly holding several bags, which she had pulled from the vehicle.

Painter was placed under arrest after failing a field sobriety test, according to the complaint. She denied a blood test at the Packer Memorial Hospital, but consented bags searches after being taken to the PSP barracks in Towanda, Smith wrote in the report.

Painter told law enforcement there were two ounces of methamphetamine in the bags, according to Smith. Painter claimed to be transporting it for somebody.

Investigators found five bags with 219 grams of methamphetamine, or nearly eight ounces, along with Xanax pills, two Xanax bars, 16 Adderall pills, THC wax, five baggies with methamphetamine residue, unused bulk baggies, two glass smoking pipes, a black digital scale, a hypodermic needle, and a plastic container inside the bags, according to the affidavit.

Painter is being charged with possession with intent to deliver a controlled substance, possession of a controlled substance, marijuana possession, possession of drug paraphernalia, disregard traffic lanes, carless driving, and DUI. She is being held at the Bradford County Prison on $100,000 monetary bail.
