Mccandless Daycare Director from McKees Rocks Charged with Child Endangerment
The community of McCandless has been shaken by disturbing allegations against the director of a local daycare. Melissa Populo, the director at Gloworms Academy, is facing serious charges over the mistreatment of five toddlers in her care. The 38-year-old McKees Rocks woman was charged with five counts of endangering the welfare of children. The accusations came to light after an employee reported observing Populo hit a young child on video for not eating, according to CBS News Pittsburgh.

WPIAL Forward Earns Fifth Division One Offer
On Monday, another WPIAL prospect earned a division one offer. Montour forward Ama Tening Sow earned an offer from UT Martin, he announced on Twitter. The 6-foot-9 center plays for All-Ohio on the Nike circuit during the summer and Montour High School during the school season. The Senegal native originally moved to the U.S. to play for First Love, a former prep school in Washington, PA. After the program left the area, he then transferred to Montour to play WPIAL ball.

AHN Young Scholars introduces local high schoolers to careers in medicine

New Kensington-Arnold to consider extending superintendent's contract
The New Kensington-Arnold School Board will vote Tuesday on extending the employment of Superintendent Chris Sefcheck. Sefcheck’s original five-year contract started July 1, 2021, and runs until June 30, 2026. The new five-year deal would start Tuesday and end on June 30, 2029 — effectively extending his employment by three years.

Kline, who in September 2022 made a $50 million gift to what is now Duquesne’s Thomas R. Kline School of Law.
