Firefighter taken to hospital after Turners Falls incident

TURNERS FALLS, Mass. (WWLP) – A firefighter was taken to the hospital on Saturday after an incident in Turners Falls.

According to the Turners Falls Fire Department, at 1:10 p.m. on Saturday, crews were sent to 258 Turnpike Road for a possible explosion with smoke. When crews arrived, smoke was found, but no fire.

The residence was checked for fire, and the smoke was cleared out. Berkshire Gas along with Eversource were requested at the home to secure utilities. AMR Ambulance provided medical coverage and took a firefighter with a leg injury to a local hospital.

The Massachusetts State Police and the Massachusetts Department of Fire Services are investigating the incident. 22News will update this story as soon as more information becomes available.
