A 3-year-old girl has been mauled by a bear while inside her tent at a campground in Montana near Yellowstone National Park, officials say.

That's one big bear.

To be specific, it's grizzly bear 791, and it lives in non other than Yellowstone National Park. The Interagency Grizzly Bear Study Team (IGBST) in Yellowstone does their best to capture and radio-collar a lot of the bear population within the national park in order to track them, and this one in particular is numbered 791.

And is estimated to be over 600 pounds, which easily makes it one of the largest bears in the entire park.

Its sheer size - along with its massive, sharp claws - helps to explain why it was stirring up so much dust...

The child was taken to a hospital in Billings, about 62 miles away.Authorities with the Montana Fish, Wildlife & Parks (FWP) set up a trap at the campsite on Sunday night and worked with the campground owner to evacuate the site by Monday morning. The black bear, whom officials believe was responsible for mauling and injuring a 3-year-old girl in Yellowstone National Park on Sunday night, was captured and euthanized by park authorities on Monday afternoon, according to the Associated Press. Montana Fish, Wildlife & Parks Game warden Randy Hutzenbiler told the Associated Press that “there were attractants in the area,” such as trash and food, which led the bear to the campsite at around 10 p.m. on Sunday. The girl was then mauled by the bear in her tent and rushed to a Billings, Montana, hospital, where her condition has not been revealed to the press. Officials then laid traps around the campsite, capturing a bear which they claimed was responsible for the attack on Monday. The bear was then euthanized by Montana Fish, Wildlife & Parks officials.
