Driver involved in Bay Bridge crash jumps off span into San Francisco Bay
A person involved in a crash on the Bay Bridge Thursday afternoon jumped into the bay after running from the crash scene and was eventually rescued by the Coast Guard, authorities said.A spokesperson for the California Highway Patrol told CBS News Bay Area said dispatchers were alerted at about 2:17 p.m. about a crash involving two vehicles heading east on the eastern span of the bridge.Spokesperson Mark Andrews said one of the vehicles rolled over in the collision and the male driver of that vehicle climbed out and began running east on the north shoulder just east of the suspension portion of the span east of Treasure Island.The person then jumped over the railing and into the water and was observed swimming, Andrews said. The Coast Guard was dispatched and the person was rescued. His condition was not immediately known.The second driver involved in the crash was not hurt and there were no other passengers in either car, Andrews said. The circumstances surrounding the crash were not immediately known.The crash temporarily blocked the two left lanes while the other three lanes remained open.

Deputies find stolen gun, drugs during traffic stop in North Fair Oaks
A man was arrested and a stolen gun and drugs were seized following a traffic stop in the community of North Fair Oaks on Thursday, deputies said.According to the San Mateo County Sheriff's Office, officers were conducting a traffic operation near Middlefield Road and 6th Avenue when they spotted an alleged traffic violation.Deputies stopped the driver, who was found to have a suspended license. During a search in which a K-9 was used, deputies also found the passenger of the vehicle had a gun and narcotics.The gun was determined to be stolen, according to the sheriff's office.Deputies arrested the passenger, identified as 33-year-old Vincent M. Salinas. He was booked into the Maguire Correctional Facility in Redwood City on suspicion of carrying a concealed weapon inside a vehicle, carrying a concealed stolen weapon, carrying a loaded firearm in public and possession of a controlled substance while armed with a loaded gun.The driver, identified as 51-year-old Robert W. Lloyd, was cited and released from the scene, deputies said.Authorities did not say when Salinas would appear in court on the charges.

Suspect allegedly attacked disabled victim in SF after blocking Waymo robotaxi, police say
San Francisco police are looking for a suspect who's accused of aggravated assault on a disabled person.Police shared video of the suspect blocking a Waymo car and shouting at it before the attack.It happened July 5 around 1 a.m. near Buchanan St. and Washington St.Police say the victim, who was outside of the Waymo, told the suspect to let the car leave.That's when the suspect lunged at him and then assaulted him.Officers say he was found unconscious and had life-threatening injuries, including a fractured skull.The victim's family says he is cognitively impaired and visibly disabled.If you have any information about this incident, you're asked to contact SFPD.
