Second man charged in June homicide in Montgomery

William Melendez, 22, of Montgomery is charged with capital murder, said Maj. Saba Coleman, spokeswoman for the Montgomery Police Department. He was identified as a second suspect in the shooting death of Noel Avido Lopez, 22, of Montgomery.

The Montgomery Police Department took him into custody on Saturday and he was placed in the Montgomery County Detention Facility under no bond, Coleman said.

Lopez died at about 2:30 a.m. in the parking lot of a business in the 2100 block of East Boulevard. Jefferson County deputies arrested 18-year-old Yesman Bardales-Antunez of Montgomery earlier in June and has charged him with murder in connection with the case.
