One killed, one injured in Tuesday morning Montgomery shooting

Montgomery police are investigating an early Tuesday morning shooting that left one man dead and another injured.

At about 12:35 a.m., police and fire medics went to the 3200 block of Covered Bridge Road on a report of a person shot, said Maj. Saba Coleman, spokeswoman for the Montgomery Police Department. They found Kavone Mosquera, 20, who had suffered a fatal gunshot wound and was pronounced dead, she said.

They also found a man who had suffered a non-life-threatening gunshot wound and was taken to a local hospital for treatment.

MPD is conducting a homicide and assault investigation in the case.

The circumstances of the case remain under investigation, and no other information was immediately released. Police ask people with knowledge of the case to call CrimeStoppers at 334-215-STOP, the Secret Witness Line at 334-625-4000, or MPD at 334-625-2831.
