Two Lowndes County teenagers have been charged with capital murder in connection with a Thursday shooting in Montgomery.

The two 16-year-olds are charged in the death of 21-year-old Hector Bamaca Yoc of Montgomery, said Sgt. Ernestina McGriff, a spokeswoman for the Montgomery Police Department. They were taken into custody Sunday by the Lowndes County Sheriff’s Office and placed in the Montgomery County Detention Facility under no bond.

Their names were not released. A state law passed in 2023 bars the release of the names of juvenile defendants, even if the court determines that they will be charged as adults.

The shooting happened about 12:35 a.m. in the 1000 block of the West South Boulevard, near the Interstate 65 interchange.

The circumstances of the case remain under investigation, and no other information was immediately released. Police ask people with knowledge of the case to call CrimeStoppers at 334-215-STOP, the Secret Witness Line at 334-625-4000, or MPD at 334-625-2831.
