Agiye Hall, formerly a wide receiver at Texas and Alabama, did not ultimately transfer to the UCF program as previously reported.

Despite announcing his intention to join UCF as a walk-on, Stephen Leonard of CBS Sports has confirmed that Hall did not make the move.

Coming out of high school, Hall was a celebrated four-star recruit. According to industry rankings, he was ranked as the No. 37 player nationwide in the 2021 class. He was also placed as the country's No. 4 wide receiver and the No. 9 player from Florida.

After spending his freshman year at Alabama, where he made four receptions totaling 72 yards in 2021, Hall entered the transfer portal and eventually landed at Texas.

In the 2022 season, Hall appeared in three games for Texas, recording a single reception for 7 yards. He did not participate in the Texas program in 2023.

Since starting college a few years ago, Hall's college career has been marked by ups and downs. This includes an arrest in August 2022 for criminal mischief, after which head coach Steve Sarkisian indefinitely suspended him.

“We’re aware of the situation involving Agiye Hall, have talked with his family, and have suspended him from all team activities for conduct that is detrimental to our program,” a program statement read.

As the season progressed, Hall gradually earned more time on the field, participating in games against UTSA, Texas Tech, and West Virginia. His only reception occurred in the game at Lubbock against the Red Raiders.

Having played in three matches, Sarkisian was questioned in mid-October about his future intentions for Hall for the rest of the season.

“As far as Agiye goes, obviously it’s been a bit of a journey since he’s been here,” Sarkisian said October 20, 2022. “He’s had some ups and had some downs. At this moment in time, if we can preserve his redshirt I think that would be in the best interest of him and the best interest of us.”

If Agiye Hall had decided to be a part of the UCF squad, he would have been under the guidance of Gus Malzahn in Orlando.

Malzahn is now in his fourth year with UCF, following an eight-season tenure as head coach at Auburn.

Under his leadership, the Golden Knights secured nine victories in both the 2021 and 2022 seasons before transitioning to the Big 12 conference in the 2023 season. In their inaugural Big 12 season in 2023, UCF compiled a record of 6-7 (3-6). Reports indicate that Hall will not be part of the team as they enter their second year in the Big 12.
