Titans host invitational featuring several of the top teams in the region

Tuesday afternoon, the Tri-City United golf program hosted several of the top squads in the region in an invitational on the grounds of Montgomery National Golf Club. The near-perfect conditions set the stage for a great day of golf which saw the Titans boys and girls teams finish sixth overall.

The girls squad was led by Neysa Anderson who finished the day with a round of 110 to finish tied for 11th as an individual while Emma Mason finished 20th with a round of 119. Lily Kaplan and Payton Huffman rounded out the team scoring for the Titans with both of them scoring 123 to tie for 22nd overall.

A major highlight came on the 18th hole where Huffman, who was hitting her third shot from the tall grass off the green, about 35 feet from the hole. She used her putter with enough force for the ball to get airborne as it reached the green, bouncing twice on the way to the pin as it moved in the open space and with a small crowd gathered, the ball slowed and perfectly dropped into the hole for a birdie.

Avery Kes and Morgan Gjerstad also competed for the Titans varsity squad, finishing with rounds of 124 and 133 respectively.

The boys team was led by Eian O’Keefe who posted a round of 89 to finish tied for 21st followed by Carter Beulke with a 92. Trenton Pelowski and Caleb Schultze rounded out the team scorers with rounds of 99 and 102 with the 102 was also matched by Jacob Neubauer. Tyler Gogerty finished the day with a round of 112.

The Titans are scheduled to return to the links Monday, May 20, when they travel to New Prague Golf Club for the Minnesota River Conference Tournament. The event is scheduled to begin at 9 a.m.
