RED LAKE NATION RECEIVES SMALL BUSINESS ASSITANCE FUNDS
(Washington, D.C.) — U.S. Senator Tina Smith (D-MN) has announced Red Lake Nation and Lower Sioux Indian Community were selected to receive federal funding to support small business development in their communities. The Tribes will use the funding to help small businesses access credit. The funding was awarded through the Small Business Credit Initiative. According to the Treasury Department, Red Lake Nation will use nearly $3.4 million for two programs administered by Red Lake Inc., a wholly-owned, Tribally-chartered company. One is a loan guarantee program and one an equity funds program.

Montgomery County, MD Continues to Expand Recycling with Plastic Film Recycling
The Montgomery County Department of Environmental Protection (DEP) is now offering plastic film recycling services at the Shady Grove Transfer Station and Recycling Center in Derwood. Plastic film are flexible plastic bags and wraps. They are recycled differently than bottles and containers. For example, grocery bags and bread bags do not go in most curbside recycling bins. Instead, plastic bags and wraps should be taken to the Shady Grove Transfer Station and Recycling Center in Derwood or other plastic film drop-off locations.
