Three women from South Carolina charged in Athens Sports Academy felony shoplifting
Three women from South Carolina were arrested on felony shoplifting charges Tuesday after authorities said they fled Athens but were caught in Walton County after an alert was issued for their car. The suspects were all released on bond from jail in Athens on Wednesday, but they are also under investigation for thefts of merchandise in Oconee County, which occurred prior to the alleged shoplifting at Academy Sports & Outdoors, according to Athens-Clarke police. ...
Georgia Initiates Regional Literacy Boom with Inaugural Coaches' Training Event in Warner Robins
Georgia's concerted push to elevate literacy took a formative leap as its Regional Education Service Agencies (RESA) Network hosted the inaugural training event for literacy coaches this past July 23 - July 25, at Central Georgia Technical College in Warner Robins. According to an article from Senate Press, the Let’s Read Georgia Literacy Coaches’ Training event assembled a significant number of literacy focused professionals, including 56 literacy coaches from across the state, and was graced by political and educational heavyweights—among them were Sen. Billy Hickman, Chairman of the Senate Committee on Higher Education, and Rep. Chris Erwin.

Westmont Elementary Won’t Open On Time For The First Day Of School Monday
Westmont Elementary students will have a brand new building this school year, but it won’t be open when classes begin on Monday. The old Westmont Elementary building was torn down at the end of the 2021-2022 school year, making way for the new state-of-the-art facility that can house up to 900 students.
