MONTICELLO, Ill. (WCIA) — People in Monticello got a head-start on enjoying the annual Piatt County Rodeo with a parade.

It started at 10 a.m. Saturday morning at the Forest Preserve Park and drove around town. Anybody could dress up their vehicle of choice and participate. The parade was mostly made up of golf carts, trucks, horses, and floats.

There were also different sponsors with floats, including the Oscar Mayer “Wienermobile.” It was all meant to promote the county rodeo Saturday night.

“It shows how fun everything is,” parade organizer Renee Austin said. “The Wienermobile, Piatt County Trailblazers, the name, the face, the Queens — beautiful, in the very front. It’s everything. It’s not one thing in particular: it’s everything.”

Due to the heat, rodeo festivities did not start until 7:30 p.m. Saturday.
