Clean-up Continues After Weekend Train Derailment in Big Lake
The clean-up is continuing in Big Lake, where 15 cars of a Burlington Northern Santa Fe train derailed around 3:15 AM Saturday morning. Officials say the train cars that derailed carried consumer goods, and there was no threat to the public from the incident. The derailment however, did cause significant traffic and other travel problems as roadway crossings were blocked, freight trains had to be re-routed, and commuter train service to Target Field was canceled for the weekend.
Gas Prices Rise in Minnesota, Fall Nationally
UNDATED (WJON News) -- Most of the country has seen a reprieve from rising gasoline prices, thanks to weaker-than-expected gasoline demand. Gas Buddy says while a good portion of the country saw average gasoline prices decline, severe weather completely knocked out power to a major refinery outside Chicago early last week, immediately impacting gas supplies to Illinois, Wisconsin, Indiana, and Michigan.

Flash flood warning in effect Sunday as isolated storms drench Twin Cities
MINNEAPOLIS — Sunday will bring a chance for isolated storms in the Twin Cities, and the next couple of days look to stay unsettled.Dakota, Hennepin and Ramsey counties are under a flash flood warning through 12:45 p.m., according to the National Weather Service. Thunderstorms were producing heavy rain in those areas.The afternoon will bring more chances for storms. Nothing severe is expected, but there could be some heavier downpours. Activity should diminish once the sun sets.Sunday is also off to a humid, summer-like start.
