A cold front brings more showers and isolated storms today
Elmira, N.Y. (WETM)- We are tracking a cold front that will move in with more showers today and some relief from the heat. Isolated showers pick up throughout the morning, and by this afternoon showers should be widely scattered with a chance for some isolated thunderstorms. Village Grove construction on track in Trumansburg
Construction on the Village Grove development, projected to be the village of Trumansburg’s largest and greenest affordable housing project, is underway. The $27 million project is meant to bring 10 affordable rental townhomes or duplexes, as well as 46 affordable apartments in a two-story building, and nine lots at a market-rate price that could likely house 17 apartments, to the south side of the village by the end of the year.

When Dryden firefighter Amanda Brayton took a trip to Malawi in June, she quickly realized the vast differences between fire departments there and in America. For example, Brayton said the city of Blantyre, Malawi has a population of about 1.8 million people. The city has a fire station and a substation, but both stations have only one fire truck.

ITHACA, NY (CortacaToday) — On July 27th, 2024, Racker will be hosting their annual exhibition game to benefit Racker’s Early Childhood Service Program. Racker, a nonprofit organization whose mission is to provide care and proper resources for those with intellectual and developmental disabilities, is now in their tenth year of putting on the Racker Rivals Big Red hockey game. Bath Police cite concerns with bail reform after multiple arrests of local woman
Bath Police are highlighting issues with current bail reform policies after arresting Courtney Roche three times in a span of three days. Roche’s alleged criminal activities began on July 9 when she unlawfully entered a restricted area of the Bath Municipal Building and was caught stealing credit cards. The following day, she reportedly pulled a fire alarm at the Quality Inn on West Morris Street. On July 11, Roche was arrested again for pulling another fire alarm, this time at the Budget Inn on West Morris Street.
UAW Local 2300 Members Rally As Bargaining Continues With Expired Contract
This past Thursday, umbrellas and fists were both raised high as approximately 50 members of the local UAW 2300 rallied to garner support for their bargaining efforts with Cornell University. Despite the rainy conditions, the union members collected at A-Lot to share words of encouragement and chant for the University to hear their demands.
Patrick Woodward, suspect in Elmira armed burglary, will serve 3 years in prison
One of three suspects charged in connection with an armed burglary in January in the City of Elmira will serve three years in prison for his role in the crime. Patrick Woodard, 24, of Elmira, was also sentenced in Chemung County Court this week to three years of post-release supervision after pleading guilty June 3 to a count of second-degree attempted burglary.
