MINNEAPOLIS — The Minnesota Twins spent their top pick in the 2024 MLB draft on shortstop prospect Kaelen Culpepper.Culpepper, 21, plays college ball for Kansas State and is the school's first position player to be drafted in the first round. He hit .328 last season and was an All-Big 12 honorable mention.Culpepper also played for the USA Baseball Collegiate National Team in 2023, hitting .471 with three homers and seven RBI, making him the team's top batter.MLB's scouting profile notes he makes consistent contact but is not a power hitter. MINNEAPOLIS — Brace for more rain and storms on Monday in parts of Minnesota, including the Twin Cities.A tornado warning for Kanidyohi, Renville and Chippewa counties has expired. The National Weather Service said radar-indicated rotation prompted the warning. A few storms will roll over southeastern Minnesota and western Wisconsin on Monday afternoon, with a low severe threat for wind and hail.During the dry time on Monday, we'll see a mix of sun and clouds. It'll be a hot and humid day with highs in the mid-80s. High pressure and cooler temperatures will move in for the remainder of the week, with some really nice days coming our way with highs in the 70s, low humidity and sunshine.Outside of some passing showers on Tuesday, it appears that we stay dry for the next few days. We'll return to the 80s this weekend.Weekend storms brought large hail and strong winds to parts of the state, leading to downed trees, power outages and other types of storm damage.

PRINSBURG, Minn. (FOX 9) - Damage was reported in Prinsburg, Minnesota, after a storm pushed through the area Monday morning. Strong winds and hail were reported during the 7 a.m. hour in Kandiyohi County. Downed tree branches and a broken window were reported in Prinsburg, according to FOX 9 viewers.

ST. LOUIS PARK, Minn. — Overnight storms hit the Twin Cities hard, knocking out power for tens of thousands of people. “We saw about 135,000 customers with outages. We’re approaching about two-thirds of those restored right now,” said Regional Vice President of Xcel Energy John Marshall. “Of all the storms this is probably our first big one that impacted most customers here in this region.”
