Humboldt/Hartford Blanked by Alexandria in Region 5B
The Humboldt/Hartford legion baseball team lost their second game in the Region 5B tournament on Thursday, July 25th, ending their season. The host team, Alexandria, took the win 10-0. Alexandria got a run in the bottom of the first for a 1-0 lead. After a scoreless second inning, Alexandria scored three runs in the third, fourth, and fifth innings to end the game on the 10-run rule.
Season Ends for Baltic/Colton in Region 2B Tournament
Facing Volga for the second time in the tournament, Baltic/Colton lost in dramatic fashion 14-13 in eight innings on Thursday, July 25th. The loss ended the season for Baltic/Colton with an overall record of 4-13. Baltic/Colton built an early 7-0 lead. They scored a run in the top of the first and six more in the top of the second. Volga then rallied for nine straight runs. They scored two in the bottom of the second, three in the third, and four in the fourth for a 9-7 lead. Baltic/Colton tied the game 9-9 with two runs in the top of the fifth. Volga regained the lead in the bottom of the inning with three runs, 12-9.
Baltic/Colton Falls Short to Dell Rapids in Region 2B
Baltic/Colton suffered their first loss of the Region 2B tournament on Wednesday, July 24th. Dell Rapids was able to pull away for a 13-8 victory. Dell Rapids struck first with three runs in the bottom of the first. Baltic/Colton cut the lead to 3-2 with two runs in the top of the third. Dell Rapids got two runs themselves in the bottom of the third to make the score 5-2. Baltic/Colman scored three times in the top of the fourth to tie the game 5-5.
